Monarchs at Story Hour
Monarch butterflies were flying about the classroom this week at story hour, as the children transformed their bodies from egg, to larva, to pupa, to butterfly while reading Monarch and Milkweed by Helen Frost and Leonard Gore.
This beautifully illustrated picture book guides children through the great trip and transformation that butterflies undertake between their milkweed plants and Mexico.
We made symmetrical butterflies to go with the story. First painting one half of the butterfly and then folding the paper in half and stamping along the line of symmetry!
