Making Butter!
Last week when we went cranberry picking I forgot the camera! So without pictures to prompt my post, I am a little late in saying thank you to the Sumner's who so graciously welcomed us into their home for an afternoon of indoor and outdoor play along with cranberry picking!
We had had such a nice string of warm days that the cold weather on that particular day caught us a bit by surprise! The kids are always warm though, and they were so intrigued to find the low bush cranberries, camouflaged right below their feet.
We had grand plans of backing of cranberry muffins and serving them at our Thanksgiving celebration with homemade butter! Below are the pictures of us making butter! Shake, shake, shake!
The directions that I had for making butter said that it would take about ten minutes of shaking. Finally, butter arrived after 40 minutes of shaking! The girls had to get up and leave for dance class and the boys decided to get on their winter gear for recess while I finished the shaking! Lesson for the future: we might need more shakers!
In the end, the inclement weather botched our Thanksgiving celebration, however, I think I will serve up homemade butter and crackers for snack on Monday. Oh well, the best laid plans, right?
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I would like to thank all of Heart Centered Multi-Age's parents and friends. Heart Centered Multi-Age would not be what it is if it wasn't for the gracious help and support of our caring families. Families who offer of themselves on a daily basis to do anything we might need. Our friends are amazing! A special thank you to Mrs. T at the Library, Mrs. Broome and Mrs. Sharp who all donate of their time to make our program amazing! I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. Thank you!
